Welcome to Aitkin Public Schools Mary Morem
Superintendent
Dear Community Members,
It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as your new superintendent. My name is Mary Morem. I am honored to join this incredible community and look forward to getting to know our students, families, staff, businesses, and community partners as we work together to provide the very best educational opportunities for every child. Education has always been an important part of my life. My grandmother was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse, and her commitment to serving children and communities helped shape my own belief in the power of public education. She taught me that every student deserves to be known, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential. My own upbringing also instilled values that continue to guide my leadership today. I grew up working in my family's excavation and blacktop business, where I learned the importance of hard work, integrity, teamwork, and serving others. Those experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the role that small businesses play in strengthening our communities and for the valuable life skills that come from hands-on learning and dedication to a craft. Family has always been at the center of my life. My husband and I have been married for 37 wonderful years, and together we have been blessed with three adult children and five beautiful grandchildren. They remind me every day why investing in the success of young people is among the most meaningful work we can do. I firmly believe that every person has unique talents, strengths, and gifts. As educators and community members, we share the responsibility of helping our children discover those talents and providing meaningful learning opportunities that allow them to grow with confidence and purpose. Success looks different for every student, and our goal is to ensure that each one has the support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive. Strong schools are built through strong partnerships. When families, educators, students, businesses, and community members work together with a shared vision, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. I believe deeply in listening, collaborating, and building relationships founded on trust, respect, and open communication. I am excited about the future of our district and the opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we will continue to build on our strengths, embrace new possibilities, and create an environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and prepared for a bright future. Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I look forward to meeting you in the coming months and working alongside you as we continue to make our schools a source of pride for everyone. Thank you! Mary Morem, Aitkin Superintendent We Are ISD #1 |
