Dear students and parents, Welcome to Aitkin Public Schools and ISD #1! I hope the 2024-2025 school year is off to a wonderful start for everyone.
The Aitkin Children’s Center offers half-day preschool for our Junior Jakes (3-year-olds) and full-day preschool for our Jakes (4-year-olds). Taught by licensed teachers, our preschool program focuses on preparing 3- and 4-year-olds to become successful learners. For those enrolled, our Kids Club childcare provides wrap-around care, allowing students to attend school even on days they don’t have preschool.
Our elementary school provides a variety of educational opportunities. Rippleside students benefit from “What I Need” (WIN) time on a regular basis, where they receive support in areas where they need it most. Teachers collaborate to form groups that target specific skills in math, reading, and enrichment, based on district screening test scores. We also enhance learning experiences with our school forest and an innovative school garden program, which brings fresh fruits and vegetables directly to our school cafeterias, creating a farm-to-school supply chain.
At the high school level, students continue to explore and learn through a wide range of opportunities. They can earn over 40 college credits without ever leaving the high school building. We also offer a robust Agriculture program and an Industrial Technology program that equip students with valuable skills for careers in a variety of trades. All students receive a MacBook (grades 9-12) or an iPad (grades K-8), positioning our school on the cutting edge of classroom technology. We’re committed to expanding learning through innovative technology use.
Learning at Aitkin Public Schools extends beyond the classroom. We offer over 18 clubs and activities, as well as more than 15 athletic teams, so students have many ways to get involved. The Aitkin Gobblers have a proud tradition of building community and supporting our students in their diverse pursuits.
We continue to expand support systems within our schools to assess, address, and meet our students’ needs. Our staff actively identifies key standards in each subject and tailors lessons to meet these objectives. With the support of parents and the community, this work is yielding strong results in our test scores at ISD #1. hile we are proud of our accomplishments, we are committed to continually raising our standards. We are excited about the 2024-2025 school year and all the opportunities it brings. We look forward to partnering with families to provide a top-quality educational experience for everyone.
I hope you have a fantastic experience as a member of the Aitkin Gobbler Community! It’s a great day to be a GOBBLER!
