Superintendent Search Process Completed
Dear ISD #1 Patrons,
We sincerely thank all of you who took interest and especially the many who participated in the recent interviewing process for our new Superintendent of Schools. We understand that you took considerable time away from your regular schedules to listen, learn, and to ask questions of and provide written feedback on the candidates. You demonstrated your commitment to making education a priority in our schools. We are grateful.
These are difficult choices. The candidate profile used for the hiring process was extensive. It was created through community input and surveys taken before the application process opened. Applicants come to us with varying degrees of experience, and each from different educational and community backgrounds. Finalists must have demonstrated leadership experience and competency communicating a vision for the educational needs of the district. They must be accountable and able to hold those in the organization to the same high standards of accountability. A quality Superintendent must possess the desire to manage and to mentor. Most importantly, they must demonstrate a passion and conviction for the well-being and education of our children.
We are pleased to announce that, beginning July 1, Dan Stifter will be our new Superintendent of Schools. We believe Dan will bring those positive, professional attributes to his role. To begin this new era of ISD #1 leadership, please help us welcome Mr. Stifter. Congratulations, Dan! Community support along with active participation and constructive ideas from you, our ISD 1 patrons, will help Mr. Stifter and our school board continually improve our Aitkin schools. Please know that you are always welcome to participate and join us as we move forward.

Welcome to Aitkin Public Schools by Charles Rick
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Aitkin Public Schools. We strive to work toward the school mission statement to “empower students to be life-long learners and citizens by maximizing community, parent, and staff involvement while developing high expectations and achievement in a safe learning environment.”
Being new to the district, I will be learning too! I plan to learn more about the what the school has to offer students. One thing I encourage people to do is visit the school website to learn about what we have to offer students, staff, and community. There is a wealth of information on curriculum programs and school activities, community education programs, and information on school board meetings. You will also find a staff directory.
We are proud of the opportunities offered to students and the community toward their development as life-long learners. I encourage people to visit the schools and see the facility improvements at the high school made over the summer. The improvements to the high school will enrich the learning environment for all students.
The Aitkin Public Schools is committed to providing all students an excellent educational experience which involves support from students, parents, school staff, school board members, and the community.
We are excited to back in business for the 2018-2019 school year. I look forward to serving the school district and encourage people to contact me with any questions. Feel free to contact me by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call 218-927-7106. If I’m available, I’d be happy to speak with you otherwise Mary would be happy to set up an appointment.
