Kelvington Selected for Superintendent
The Board of Education for the Aitkin Public School screened four strong finalists for the position of Superintendent yesterday. The group was assisted by community, staff and administrative teams who helped provide feedback on all of the candidates. Following a thorough discussion of these candidates, the Board unanimously agreed to engage in contract talks with Brad Kelvington who has enthusiastically accepted the offer to enter negotiations with the Board. Should these talks proceed as expected, a formal work agreement is slated to be approved at an upcoming Board meeting. Brad is expected to begin here in early July.
Brad Kelvington is the intermediate school principal for the Foley Public School where he has worked since 2006. Prior to his stint at Foley, Brad was an elementary and a middle school principal for Renville County West. Brad taught social studies in two South Dakota schools before he became an administrator in Minnesota. His superintendent license was earned through St. Cloud State. He holds a Sixth Year certificate from Minnesota State University, Mankato, a Masters degree from the University of South Dakota, and a Bachelors Degree from Southwest State University, Marshall.
The Board expressed appreciation to the nearly 30 individuals from the staff, administration, and community who helped with the process at Wednesday's interviews. As Board Chair, I'm confident that, with this selection, the Aitkin Public School will continue in the proud tradition of success.
